I stayed at the Sonora Inn. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was a nice touch!
This hotel has a long and rich history and it's a shame to see what it has become. I will say the staff was helpful and friendly. I can also say I worked at this establishment 40 years ago and remember it then so I am a bit nostalgic. It had a good restaurant back then. It had a good bar that on most nights had a thriving business. Those are no longer part of the hotel. The rooms have been modernized but the bathrooms are a disappointment. Sonora seems to be thriving at least on the weekends for potential guests. I must say my disappointment happened nothing to do with the staff they were awesome. As stated before it's just a shame of what this place was and what's it is now.
I know it's old but it needs to be safe. Going from 2nd floor to the one 1/2 floor rm 244 the stairs needs proper hand rails on both sides of stairs.The rails on the second floor is not properly secured. I would not lean on it. Suggestions 1. Bath tub mat in the tub. Slip hazard averted. two folding chairs to sit on. So I don't have to sit on the toilet at 5am zoom meeting. It's a great place to go stay at. It would even better with the the safety items addressed.
In 30 plus years of travel, this is hands down the best experience.
