Hood River Hotel
The Hood River Hotel offers a variety of amenities including a bar/lounge, gym, spa, and pet-friendly accommodations.
The hotel staff and rooms are fantastic. The renovation retained the historic beauty to this grand hotel. The restaurant meal was fantastic and the proximity to the water front, restaurants and pubs are in easy walking distance.
When we booked at the HR Hotel, we were expecting and looking forward to a rustic setting, so we were fine with the small room and bathroom (and bed was comfortable I will say). But we also were looking forward to some charm and warmth in exchange for the lack of conveniences. Desk staff seemed unengaged and uninclined to offer any suggestions for things to do in town. Parking was poorly explained. Lobby is indifferently and uncomfortably furnished; amenities should include more than a deck of cards and a puzzle. Restaurant should have a sign saying when they ARE open (instead of a terse "Restaurant Closed"), or the desk staff should explain at check in. Our room, 306, billed as "Rooftop Garden," looked out on an inner rooftop space jumbled with stored items and utility apparatus hardly a garden. I am not usually a complainer, but it seemed to us that the owner is missing out on an opportunity to project charm, warmth, nostalgia, friendliness a more lodge like experience. I'm sorry to say it but I felt like somebody needed to hear it.
We enjoyed our stay at the HR hotel. It was exactly what we needed. It was convenient to town and our room was great!

Expedia Group verifies all reviews to ensure that the customer has indeed booked on our site. To encourage customers to submit their reviews, we send an email containing a link to evaluate the hotel to which we sometimes attach a reduction or Expedia Rewards voucher to use on a future trip. We post all reviews whether they are positive or negative, to the extent that they respect our content directives. This monitoring is automated. Any rejection is manually checked and, if maintained, notified to the reviewer by email with reasons. We do not otherwise process changes, nor reviewer contact. We de-list reviews after 4 years, other than for properties having a non-significant number of reviews.
