I was one of many, many people who were there because Hurricane Helene knocked out power in the entire area for days on end. I am very fortunate that the Super 8 had a vacancy. The management of the hotel did an admirable job of handling a very difficult situation. No hotel in town had Internet or TV, so this was not their fault. The structure of the building (no elevator) was difficult for guests, but again, I was just happy to have a place to stay with electricity and air conditioning. I enjoyed talking with the proprietor and his family throughout my stay. They were always willing to do whatever they could for all of us through this difficult situation. I actually checked out a day early because my power at my home came back. The proprietor and his wife celebrated with me and an unnamed man in the office helped me get my luggage down the steps and to my car, although he certainly did not have to. This was a huge example of people coming together to get through a very tough situation together.
