Candlewood Suites Pueblo by IHG
The hotel offers amenities such as parking, an elevator, a gym, a restaurant, WiFi/internet, pet-friendly rooms, laundry facilities, non-smoking rooms, air conditioning, a 24/7 front desk, a kitchen in each room, a business center, and meeting rooms.
Let me start by saying that all of the staff that we spoke with were very nice. I made reservations for two rooms and thought I was speaking with the front desk. Unfortunately my call was directed to a third party and the rooms for $250 / night. Plus, I was sold a $100 insurance policy for coverage I didn't need. Not Candlewood's fault but not sure how calling the 800 number got me to Expedia. Anyways, the amenities in the rooms are nice with full kitchens, a dishwasher and supplies. The beds are comfortable, but the property is not the cleanest. I imagine it's hard to find help only saw one housekeeper; they tell you upfront there is not daily cleaning. The rooms are large and if you are there on business, there are plenty of outlets and desk space to work at. However, the first morning, the tub filled with water all the way to the top while showering the stopper was broken. Housekeeping did come and assist, explaining a gross amount of hair had it clogged. Upon showering the second morning, the same thing happened the mechanism was clearly broken had to use a fork to lift the plug to allow it to drain. The coffee machine downstairs also broke seemed as if the staff had encountered the problem before and were frustrated. If you are older, you have to ask for accommodations such as a tub mat to avoid slipping (housekeeping told us that they get gross maybe try treads?) there is a shower bar but it's located at the front of the tub not the ideal location when you already have the water on. It was also explained to us that the property really isn't meant for short stays. People staying long term put there trash out in the hall for pickup and it was there for several hours/overnight. The Sam's Club is across the street, so purchasing food and gas is very convenient. All staff that we spoke with addressed our concerns with politeness. This would not be our first choice of properties to stay at in Pueblo, CO for the price. $550 for two nights was rather steep for the quality.
