We booked (and prepaid) for five rooms for my children and grandchildren to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. Over a period of 6 days prior, I kept calling to make a reservation at Catalina Kitchen for 15 people for dinner on Saturday evening. I left three messages but was not called back. The front desk also could not get through but eventually made a tentative reservation for 12 but could not do 15. When we arrived, I went straight to the restaurant. The hostess was not helpful, got the manager, who also said they could not manage 15 because it was such a busy weekend. That evening (Friday) we saw 15 people sitting together from our balcony. I was prepared to have the grandkids sit on our laps, but finally, Saturday evening they pulled over another table and we had a wonderful evening. Interestingly, there were many empty tables while we were there. It was just stressful and frustrating to not be able to make a reservation a week in advance. Another issue: My daughter and I needed to go somewhere on Saturday. After waiting at valet for over 25 minutes, they told us they could not find the car but would find it eventually! 15 minutes later, they found it. We were late for our event, but at least it wasn’t a flight. Upon checkout, my son texted me that he had asked them to charge his electric car overnight and verified this twice. It was not done! Finally, upon checkout, we waited 50 minutes to get our car from valet. We lost an hour of Fathers Day. Not the worst tragedy but, it seems to me, with the prices we paid, all of these issues should not exist. I’ve been elsewhere where the process is much more seamless.
