I’ve been a Hilton honors member for years and I’ve had a couple bad experiences. The last time the Gainesville manager responded to my review and asked for a call back, but provided no way for me to get in touch with him no name or number. But this latest one galls me. My vehicle broke down at about 9 o’clock at night and I needed to get a room. So wife called ahead and booked for me. What I didn’t know was the room was nearly $300 for one night. On top of that the “suite” was poorly designed. There was no way to watch the TV from bed or from the work table, or the sofa without looking sideways. Kinda crazy. The lighting in the bedroom and the bathroom area reminded me of a laundromat – bright fluorescent cool lights. The handheld shower only provided cold water. (yes I waited a long time for it to run warm never happened). Oh and I’m quite computer literate, but I could not get my phone on their Wi Fi without signing up for Hilton Honors which I already have. And then got some sort of warning about if I use their Internet without being an honors member that I might get charged. Gave up and used phone data. The breakfast was good and the hostess was nice, but overall it was a very mediocre experience for a very high price.
