Second time staying for a conference in the hotel. Lovely establishment. Centrally located with my favorite Starbucks inside. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Rooms clean and comfortable. The hotel bar and restaurant is attractive and the food is tasty. However they were challenged due to low staffing levels making service hit or miss. The ratio of server to guests appear to be 1:10 the night I was there for dinner. Server and manager were very apologetic. I felt bad for them.
The room was very small for the amount of money, even after I paid for an upgraded room. It was uncomfortably warm and I had to call the front desk, who then sent up an engineer to unlock the thermostat from eco mode. The bed was uncomfortable, as my sleep was disturbed every time my wife moved. The hotel only had one luggage cart and we were only allowed to use the doorman, whom we tipped well. On the check out day, we were forced to drag our luggage down and I am a disabled veteran. The only microwave closest to our room was a floor below, near the ice machine. There are numerous other issues that we simply dealt with, which detracted from our overall experience as first time visitors to DC.
