The cool thing about Tru by Hilton Wilmington is that it offers a variety of amenities including parking, a gym, a restaurant, complimentary WiFi, and a 24/7 front desk.
The hotel was very clean from the rooms to the fitness center. Staff were friendly and greeted us every time we entered or walked by the front desk. The breakfast was delicious. The bacon was the best! The fitness center was one of the nicest I have seen in any hotel. However, a couple of the treadmills needed some maintenance work. I hope this place stays nice and keeps their high standards for cleanliness and friendliness.
The staff were by far the worst I’ve dealt with. When I wanted to ask for early check in the concierge don’t answer the phone and finally day of tried to charge me to check in early without telling me there was a fee. The room was clean but there was a large gap in the door and we were across from the elevator. They said they would help then never came back. For breakfast, we waited 20 min for the hot bar and restocking (we got there at 8:45 and breakfast ends at 10). I couldn’t find anyone around and walked to the kitchen to find someone. The two women were SO mad that I came to ask if they were bringing more food and yelled that they were short staffed. Then soon after we checked out we realized we left a few sodas in the room and wanted them back. The concierge promised to call us back twice and never did so we gave up. The room was clean but the patio was closed and we had planned to use the pool deck, we had light and sound come through our unsealed door and the service was awful. We will NOT be staying at a Hilton again (esp. this one) if we can avoid it. It was $170/night for poorer quality than a motel.
Nice new hotel with the most comfortable sheets I have slept in ever at a hotel. Look forward to seeing the finished courtyard and pool.
