Originally I booked a very expensive hotel in Petoskey, but bad weather made me cancel and go to Charlevoix for two nights. The price was attractive, but a review saying no elevator and poor bed mattresses was off putting. We had a room on the first of two floors. The mattresses could be improved, but they are updating the Inn in March and we had no trouble sleeping. The pool was warm and the hot tub fantastic. Breakfast was a large layout of food from scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles, muffins, yogurt, cereal ,fruit etc. A fantastic coffee machine and variety of teas available all day. Staff at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. We were able to have food delivered both nights from a pizza chain and Culver’s. Our 2nd day was a total Blizzard so many were stranded. One young man with a truck even took me to the local hospital and came back to get me later when my procedure was finished! Bet that would not have happened a if we had Stayed in Petoskey. Am booking back at the American Inn in the future. Highly Recommend.

Tried to check in. Was told no power. Never got a chance to check in. Got refund for tomorrow's reservation, but not tonight's.
Able to reserve room on short notice for surgery. Could use better outside lighting.
The staff is always friendly. Rooms are always clean and comfortable.
Front desk staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. The lobby and breakfast area were very clean.
